Bucknell 27, Delaware State 13

LEWISBURG, PA --- Quarterback Todd Wenrich passed for 187 yards and three touchdowns to lead Bucknell to a 27-13 win over Delaware State Saturday. The Hornets dropped their third straight to fall to 2-3, while Bucknell, a member of the Patriot League, is 2-2 after winning its second in a row.

Wenrich connected with Jim Horan on a 10-yard touchdown pass, and Chris Lundberg nailed a 41-yard field goal to give the Bison a 10-0 halftime lead.

The Hornets finally got on the scoreboard when Kittrell Barnes threw a 33-yard touchdown pass DaShaun Morris with 9:23 left in the third quarter to make it 10-7. Morris has caught a touchdown pass in each of the last three games. Bucknell pulled ahead 17-7 when Wenrich found Ken Lockard for an 8 yard touchdown pass with 7:00 left in the third quarter.

The big play in the Bucknell drive was a 42-yard run by Mike Leatherman on a fake punt. On the ensuing kickoff, DaShaun Morris returned the kick 92 yards for a touchdown to cut Bucknell’s lead to 17-13 with 6:44 left in the third quarter. It was Morris’ third kickoff return for a touchdown this season. Delaware State failed on the extra point try.

Bucknell answered when Wenrich threw his third touchdown pass of a day, a 29-yard strike to Albert Marquardt with 11:06 left in the fourth quarter. The Bison closed out the scoring when Lundberg hit a 37-yard field goal with 3:00 left to play. The Hornets were held to just 216 yards total offense, only 89 coming on the ground.
