Stillman 32, Livingstone 6

TUSCALOOSA, AL--- The Stillman College Tigers rebounded from the loss to West Alabama Saturday evening by defeating the Livingstone College Blue Bears 32-6.

Neither team was able to produce much offense in the first quarter. Stillman opened the second quarter with a Timothy Cole 15-yd touchdown reception from Tyvun Green at the 10:52 mark to cap a five play, 54-yd drive. The Eric Beech extra-point was blocked and Stillman took an early 6-0 lead.


Three minutes later Zack Berklin capped a three play 53-yd drive with a 37-yd touchdown run for Stillman. The Beech extra point gave Stillman a 13-0 lead.

With 4:55 remaining in the first half Green found Michael Trigg for a 51-yd touchdown pass reception. Beech missed the extra point and Stillman took a 20-0 lead into the half.


The Stillman defense continued to dominate the game, forcing a Livingstone three and out. On the ensuing possession Tavares Spillman took a Green pass 32-yds for a touchdown to cap a five play 60-yd drive. Beech's missed extra point made the score 26-20.


With 4:00 minutes remaining in the third quarter Beech finally got on track, connecting on a 44-yd field goal to increase Stillman's lead to 29-0.

Both teams traded punts for the first three possession of the fourth quarter. At the 7:39 mark Stillman extended its lead to 32-0 on a 35-yd Beech field goal.


Half-way through the fourth quarter the Stillman defense was still working on a shut out, but with 3:32 left in the game Livingstone's Antoine Smith hauled in a Joel Ward, Jr. pass for a 23-yd touchdown reception to complete an eight play, 80 yards drive. The Blue Bears failed to convert the two point conversion.

The Stillman defense limited the Blue Bear offense to 135 total yards (51 rushing and 84 passing, while the Stillman offense racked up 441 total yards (155 rushing and 286 passing).

Green led all signal callers with 286 yards and three touchdown, completing 15 of 34 pass attempts. Berklin recorded a game high 94 rushing yards and a touchdown on 19 carries. Trigg led all receivers with 149 yards, a touchdown and five receptions.

Livingstone Jason Ocean was the lone standout for the Blue Bears as he recorded a game high 14 tackles. Robert Branch led Stillman with nine tackles and a sack.

Stillman's record improves to 2-1 and Livingstone fall to an 0-2 mark.

Stillman will return to action next Saturday and the Tigers travel to Jackson, TN for face the Lane College Dragons. Kick off is scheduled for 6 pm.

Livingstone will also return to action next Saturday as they face Virginia Union University.
