Grambling State 64, Morris Brown 36

(Atlanta, GA) Morris Brown (1-10) looked to pull off an upset in their last home game of the season, against a red hot Grambling State team that has won 30 of their last 34 games, which includes a current 10 game winning streak with a 64-36 win over the Wolverines. The Wolverines surrendered 745 yards to the Back-2-Back SWAC Champions entered today’s game ranked first by Sheridan Black National (SBN) Poll and sixth nationally by The American Sports Wire.

After three quarters the 8653 fans were treated to amazing football as Morris Brown and the Tigers battled to a 30-28 stand off. However, in the fourth quarter Doug Williams and the Grambling State Tigers showed why they are nationally ranked first and fifth, when they score 27 unanswered points after the Wolverines pulled within one, 37-36, 13:32 in the fourth quarter.

The Walter Payton Award candidate, Bruce Eugene, may have sealed a lot of votes as he riddled the Wolverines secondary, hitting 8 different receivers for 465 yards, and five touchdowns. Eugene, the games’ second leading rusher, was as deadly on the ground as he was in the air, pacing the Tigers running attack (280 yds) with 66 yards on the ground. Offensively, the Wolverines were led by running back Chris Woods, 183 totals yard.

Morris Brown will take on the Spartans of Norfolk State next Saturday, November 23 in Norfolk, Virginia. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 pm EST.
