N.C. A&T 34, Delaware State 7

Dover, DE — D'Brian Hudgins rushed for 131 yards and a touchdown to lead visiting North Carolina A&T State to a 34-7 football win over Delaware State in the 2002 home finale for the Hornets. The win snapped a four-game losing streak for the Aggies, who improved to 4-6 over and 2-4 in the MEAC.

Delaware State lost for the seventh time in eight games to fall to 3-7 and 1-5. North Carolina A&T State scored on the game's opening drive when Glenn Marshall and Tre Hadrick connected on 12-yard touchdown pass with 12:46 left in the first quarter.

After a Delaware State fumble, Yon Matthews hit a 22-yard fielod goal to give the Aggies a 10-0 lead. Delaware State cut the Aggies' lead to 10-7 when Andrew Blackston hit tight end Jospeh Graves on a four-yard touchdown pass with eight seconds left in the first quarter.

The Aggies stretched their lead to 17-7 on a four-yard touchdown run by Hudgins to complete an eight-play, 63 yard drive with 12:22 left in the second quarter.

The Hornets fell behind 24-7 when Montrell Pittman intercepted a Blackston pass and returned it 41 yards for a touchdown with 2:50 left in the second quarter.

After North Carolina A&T State forced the Hornets to punt, Jason Douglas connected with Brandon Trusty on a 12-yard scoring pass to give the Aggies a 31-7 lead with 26 seconds left in the half.
