Morehouse 40, Clark Atlanta 7With a trip to San Diego, California to face-off with SIAC conference opponent Albany State University in the back of their minds, the Maroon Tigers of Morehouse College still were able to focus on their cross campus rivals Saturday afternoon, with an impressive 40-7 victory over Clark Atlanta University.Freshman Duwuan Burton, making his second consecutive start at quarterback for Head Coach Willard Scissum, directed an offense that accumulated 477 total yards. Burton completed 17 out of 26 pass attempts for 250 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions. His favorite target on the day was senior Kenneth Rodgers (11 rec., 153 yds, 2 TDs). Not to be forgotten was a Maroon Tiger ground attack that rolled up 227 rushing yards, anchored by senior Nathaniel Zachery (27 car, 153 yds, 1 TD). After breaking out to a quick 7-0 lead on fumble return by Michael Audrict with 9:44 to go in the first quarter, Clark Atlanta offensive was to unable to keep the momentum in the Panther’s favor. As the Maroon Tigers rebounded to tie the score at 7-7 with 3:36 remaining in the first quarter courtesy of Zachery’s four yard scamper. From that point forward, the Duwuan Burton to Kenneth Rodgers pass-catch duo took over the game, building a 24-7 cushion at the intermission on their way to a lop-sided victory.
