Blue Tiger Women Take It To Oakland City

Jefferson City, MO - The Lincoln University Blue Tigers in last
pre-conference game of the season took care of the Lady Oaks of
Oakland City University (IN) impressively Saturday afternoon.
LU after scoring first allowed the OCU to tie the game for the
only time at 2 before cruising out to a 11 point lead halfway
through the first period and took a 9 point lead into the break,
32-23. Lincoln continue to pour it on in the early part of the
second half claiming a 22 point lead by the 13 minute mark, Oakland
City made a charge towards the end of the game, but the Blue Tigers
held off the Lady Oaks down the stretch for 16 point win, 78-62.
Sophomore Rhonda John led the attack of five double figure scorers for
Lincoln with 20 points and 6 steals. Junior Forward Shara Tauai with 12 of
14 from the free throw line finished with 16 on the afternoon, in Junior
Guard ShaRhonda Welch's first start of the year scored the first 7 points
for LU and ended with 11 points and added 5 steals. Two Blue Tigers rounded
out double digit scoring with 10, Junior Point Guard's Calynn Nimmo and
Lindsi Thompson.
Lincoln Women with the win are 5-7 on the year with a road trip to San
Antonio, TX next week to open Heartland Conference play with the University
of the Incarnate Word Crusaders on Thursday at 6:00pm and on Saturday with
St. Mary's University at 1:00pm. Thursday game with the Crusaders will be a
doubleheader broadcast on Smooth Jazz 88.9 FM KJLU beginning at 5:55pm.
