Florida A&M Uses Strong Second Half to Defeat Howard

Tallahassee, FL--Kim Watson scored 14 of her game-high 23 points in the second half and Tene Miller and Yolanda Dixon combined for 23 after intermission as Florida A&M came from behind to defeat Howard University, 82-72 in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference women's game at Gaither Gymnasium.

The Rattlerettes (6-7 overall, 2-2 in the MEAC), who trailed by as many as 14 in the first half, came out strong in the second half with some tenacious pressure defense and transition basketball. Watson did most of her damage inside the post area, connecting of five of eight from the field in the second half while also adding 14 rebounds. Miller (18 points) and Dixon (18 points) did most of their damage from the perimeter and in transition baskets.

Howard (1-12 overall, 1-3 in the MEAC) placed five players in double figures, led by Daisha Hicks with 16 and Courtney Kirk contributed 13. The Lady Bison played the second half without team-leading scorer Asia Petty, who injured her ankle.

Howard will try to snap its two-game losing streak when it entertains South Carolina State on Monday, January 18 at 2 p.m.
