Lady Aggies Cruise Over Coppin State

Greensboro, N.C.: The North Carolina A&T Lady Aggies’
Camile Akins scored a game-high 19 points in a win over the visiting
Coppin State Lady Eagles, 67-48 in a Mid–Eastern Athletic
Conference game played in the Corbett Sports Center on Saturday
night.
The Lady Aggies (3-15, 3-7 MEAC) pulled away in the first half
with a 22-5 run that took up more then 11 minutes of the stanza.
The team posted a shooting percentage of 44-percent from the field
and hit 10-of-12 from the charity stripe to head into the locker
room with a 34-20 advantage over Coppin State.
As both teams returned for the second half of play, N.C. A&T
resumed their offensive attack and held off an early run from
Coppin State (6-14, 3-8 MEAC). The Lady Eagles pulled within nine
points at the 13:01 mark, but could not come any closer the rest
of the game.
Coppin State’s Leisel Harry had a double-double with a team-high
16 points and a game-high 10 rebounds in the losing effort. LaKesha
Wills and Sherrie Tucker each scored eight points in 33 minutes
of play.
A&T’s Tawanda Jackson scored 16 points with seven assists
while Tia Richardson had 11 and pulled down a team-high nine rebounds.
Mia Glover also scored in double-digits with 10 points, adding
four assists and four steals in 40 minutes of play. As a team,
all six players scored at least five points and finished behind
the arc hitting
9-of-20.
The Lady Aggies will be back in action on Monday when Morgan State
rolls into town for a conference game. The tip-off is scheduled
for 5:30 pm.
