Blue Tiger Women Lose In Overtime To St. Mary's For The Second Time

Jefferson City, MO - Last time Lincoln University Blue Tigers met up with the Rattlers of St. Mary's University, the game resulted in an overtime loss in San Antonio, TX for LU. This time around at Jason Gymnasium the Blue Tigers and Rattlers once again battled in overtime. Lincoln outscored St. Mary's 28-26in the first half, led by Junior Forward Sofie Hjartaker's 9 points. The Rattler women in the second half turn the table and outscored the Blue Tigers 27-25 to send the game into overtime tied 53. In the extra period, the Rattles doubled the efforts of the Blue Tigers 16-8 and won 69-61.

Two Blue Tigers picked up their fifth double double of the season. Junior Forward Shara Tauai led the Blue Tigers offense with 16 points and grabbed a game high 14 rebounds, while Sophomore Guard Rhonda John tallied 13 points, 12 rebounds and added 4 steals. Two other Lincoln women found double digits with Junior Guard Lindsi Thompson contributing 14 points and Hjartaker finishing with 11.

Lincoln falls to 10-12 overall and 4-3 in the Heartland Conference, while St. Mary's heads to 16-5 and 6-1. The Blue Tigers will hit the road next week with a trip to Goodwell, OK for radio broadcast game with the Lady Aggies of Oklahoma Panhandle State University at 5:30pm. The broadcast will begin at 5:25pm on Smooth Jazz 88.9 KJLU Thursday, February 13th.
