Blue Bears Come Back to Defeat Benedict

Salisbury, NC - The Blue Bears hosted the Tigers of Benedict College and
tamed them and defeated them 89 - 80 for the second time this year to
improve their overall record to 5-4 while Benedict falls to 4-6.
This victory came with the assistance from key players like: Edwin Samson
and Olufemi Abiodun who scored 8 and 6 points respectively in 1st half of
the game. Although Benedict was able to out shoot Livingstone in the 1st
half the Blue Bears maintain a slim 35-32 led at half time Quentin McCombs
who shot 3-4 from the floor kept the Tigers within striking distance.
The 2nd half of the game was all Livingstone until 10:13 left in the game
where the Tigers tied at 58 all. From this point, led changes and ties would
occur back and forth for both teams. The Tigers would lead by as much as 4
points in the 2nd half until the eleventh tie at 80 apiece after a good free
throw shot by Olufemi Abiodun. The Blue Bears would take the drivers seat
and never look back at the weary Tigers who fell short once again.
In the overall game Olufemi Abiodun got a game high 25 points and 13
rebounds which he received his first double double of the season. Junior
guard Jerome LaGrange added 14 points, 2 steals, and 3 rebounds to his
season totals. In the end for the Tigers Quentin McCombs kept them in the
game with 20 points and Eugene Jackson chipped 17 points.
Livingstone will travel to play in a divisional game against Winston-Salem
State on Saturday afternoon in Winston-Salem, NC at 7:30pm.
