FAMU Men Outlast UMES Hawks in 2 Overtimes

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Jan. 11) Rallying from a 10-point halftiime
deficit, the Florida A&M Rattlers bested the Maryland-Eastern Shore Hawks,
92-89 in double-overtime Saturday evening at Jake Gaither Gymnasium.
The win was the first for the Rattlers 5-6, 1-2) in Mid-Eastern
Athletic Conference play, while the loss kept the visiting Hawks winless
(0-12, 0-3).
Maryland-Eastern Shore led 44-34 at intermission, but the Rattlers
outscored the Hawks, 36-26 to force a 70-70 count at the end of regulation.
FAMU's Demarcus Wilkins hit a running back shot with less than eight
seconds left in the first overtime, tying the score at 80-80, forcing a
second extra period. The Rattlers outscored the Hawks, 12-9 in the second OT
to win the game.
UMES's Tee Trotter scored a game-high 41 points. Aaron Wellington
scored 19 and Antoine Joiner added 18 for the Hawks.
Florida A&M was led by Jermaine Hill with 20 points. Terrence Woods
scored 19 off the bench in the second half, while Michael Griffith added 16
and nine rebounds. O.J. Sumter kicked in 15 points and 11 boards.
