Blue Tiger Men Go 3-0 On The Week With A Victory Over St. Mary's

Jefferson City, MO - The Lincoln University Blue Tigers came in tonight's
looking for a little revenge from the 67-66 loss to the St. Mary's
University Rattlers in San Antonio. The Blue Tigers after a little cat and
mouse game with the Rattlers pulled out to a 12 point lead in the first
period and led by 11 at the half, 36-25. Lincoln survived nine strikes by
the Rattlers to cut the lead to single digits but each time LU sent the lead
back to double to digits and won by 16, 75-59 at Jason Gymnasium. With
Monday's win over UMSL and Thursday's upset over Incarnate Word, Lincoln
goes undefeated for the week.
Senior Guard Martin Palmer led the offensive attack with a game high 15
points, while Junior Forward Jonas Pierre led the defense with a game high
12 rebounds and a game best four blocks. Three additional Lincoln men
scored in double figures with Junior Guard Sean Briggs and Freshman Travis
Backes both adding 13 points with Senior Guard DuRell Sanford tallying 12.
The Blue Tigers go to 10-11 for the season and 3-4 in the Heartland
Conference, while St. Mary's tumbles to 11-12 and 5-2. Lincoln will head to
Goodwell, OK on Thursday, February 13th for meeting with the Oklahoma
Panhandle Sate University Aggies. The tip-off is scheduled for 7:30pm with
the game to be broadcasted on Smooth Jazz 88.9 after the women's game.
