Blue Bears End Losing Streak with a 98-69 victory over Brevard
February 13, 2003
Salisbury, NC – Livingstone (6-14) hosted a non-conference
game tonight against Brevard College (7-20) in New Trent Gymnasium.
Looking to break an 11-game losing streak, junior JC Henry, of
Charlotte, NC, took control early in the game. On the opening
possession, Henry nailed a three-pointer and contributed ten more
points in the half to help the Blue Bears to a 21-point halftime
lead, 53-32. Henry would continue his reign of terror behind the
three-point arc as Livingstone breaks its streak with a 29-point
victory over the Tornados, 98-69.
Team leader Jerome Lagrange sacrificed scoring and dished off
nine assists for the game to contribute to the win. Performing
a season best, Henry’s 21 points (5 three-pointers) provided
the cushion Livingstone needed to increase the experience of its
reserve squad. Terry Johnson led the Blue Bears bench with 14
points (nailing four three pointers). Brad Wells and Michael Brown
also scored in double-figures with 11 and 10 points respectfully.
Livingstone controlled the game in all facets minimizing the
turnovers to eight and banging the boards for a nine-rebound advantage
(36-27). LC made 25 points off turnovers (BC–9), 44 points
in the paint (BC–26), 25 second-chance points (BC-7), while
the bench contributed 53 points (BC-23).
Wil Gibbs of Brevard, led the game with 23 points while teammates
Eric Sydnor and Jamie Davis added 11 and ten respectfully.
Livingstone will travel the highways to challenge Saint Augustine’s
College in Raleigh, NC on Saturday, February 15 at 7:30 p.m.
