Blue Tigers Drop First Game at Home To The CMSU Mules

Jefferson City, MO - Lincoln University Basketball Men had a tough battle
with the Central Missouri State University Mules Saturday afternoon at Jason
Gymnasium. The Blue Tigers struck first, before the Mules rattled off 10
straight and lead as much as 16 in the opening period, LU twice made a run
for the lead by pulling within 1 early and late in the first half to bring
the deficit back to single digits by halftime, 42-34. The Mules extended
their lead to 19 quickly in the second half only allowing the Blue Tigers to
cut the lead to 9, with 3 minutes to go in the game, before pulling away for
an 87-72 win.
Junior Guard Sean Briggs had a breakthrough game offensively; he shot 57.8%
on the afternoon, hitting 11 of 19 from the floor, including 5 of 7 from the
3-point range. Andre' King also scored double digits for LU with 14 points
and grabbed a team high 8 rebounds.
Blue Tigers fall to .500 for the season at 3-3, with a trip to Arkansas
State University in five days to face the NCAA Division I Indians at 7:30pm
in Jonesboro, AR on Thursday, December 12th. Before the Christmas break
Lincoln will head to Romeoville, IL for the Lewis University Tournament on
Wednesday and Thursday, December 18th and 19th, and a trip to the bluegrass
state to battle the Panthers of Kentucky Wesleyan College in Owensboro
Saturday, December 21st.
