Texas Southern Tigers complete final scrimmage
8/23/01
Houston-TX-The TSU football team ran 20 plays during its last scrimmage in
preparation for its game against Prairie View, Saturday, September 1.
The Tiger's defense dominated the first half of the scrimmage, allowing one
touchdown.
"I was pleased with the effort," Defensive Coordinator Coach Jake
Cabell said. "Since the spring and even in camp, the defensive first team
hasn't given up more than seven points".
The Tiger's offense got revenge during the second half, scoring two
touchdowns and three field goals.
"The offense is looking good," Passing Game Coordinator Coach
Jarrett Harper said. "We are a little banged up from camp, but we will be
more than ready to go for the first game."
Head Coach Bill Thomas was satisfied with the team's overall
performance in the scrimmage.
"We have a few minor changes that we have to deal with," said
Thomas. "I think the players are doing a fine job."
The team returns to regular two-a-day practices Thursday, 9-11 a.m.
and 4-6 p.m.
