Pirates to hold Blue & White Scrimmage Saturday

Hampton, Va. - The Hampton University Pirates Football team will hold their annual Blue & White scrimmage, Saturday, August 25, at 1:00 p.m. in Armstrong Stadium. The "Blue & White" game is the final scrimmage of 2001 pre-season practice.
For tenth year head coach Joe Taylor and his staff, Saturday's scrimmage will be the last opportunity to evaluate player personnel in an actual game situation. The Pirates, who finished the 2000 season with a 7-4 overall record, open the season against the Wildcats of the University of New Hampshire on September 1, at 1:00 p.m. in Durham, New Hampshire.
"During Saturday's final scrimmage I will have a chance to see the team, from the sideline, and see exactly where we are as a unit," says Coach Taylor. "At this point of preseason practices, I am extremely satisfied with our work ethic and our conditioning."
The Blue & White scrimmage will mark the end of two-a-day practices and the Pirates will return to their fall practice schedule for the remainder of the season. Starting Monday, August 27, practices will begin at 3:30 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public.
