ASU Hornets showing signs of success

The Alabama State University Hornets practiced in
shorts and shoulder pads on Sunday evening at Hornet
Stadium.
The team worked on fundamentals in individual
workouts and worked on basic offensive and defensive
drills in groups, along with offensive and defensive
formation. In addition, the Hornets worked special
teams punt and punt return. The Hornets concluded
practice with a short scrimmage.
“I think it picked up today. Everybody worked hard
and we are starting to see the signs of a good
football team,” said second year head coach L.C. Cole.
The Hornets will practice for the first time in full
gear on Monday at Hornet Stadium at 5:30 p.m. In
addition, the Hornets will hold their first scrimmage
on Wednesday, Aug. 22, at 5:30 p.m.
Alabama State University will hold a boat ride at
Riverfront Park aboard the Betsy Anne River Boat for
all senior football players to meet and greet ASU
alumni and fans on Aug. 29, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Admission to board the Betsy Anne will be $6. For

Coach L.C. Cole, head football coach of the Alabama
State University Hornets will hold a weekly press
conference every Monday at the Governors House Hotel
and Conference Center from Noon to 1 p.m., starting
Monday, Sept. 3.
Alabama State will host Alcorn State University on
Saturday, Sept. 8, at Cramton Bowl for their season
opener. Kick off is schedule for 6:30 p.m.
