Alcorn's Thomas is pleased with team's full gear workouts

Alcorn State, Miss. The Alcorn State football team has been working out in full gear and is progressing real well according to the coaching staff.
Head coach Johnny Thomas is very pleased with the full gear workouts during its early stages.
"The workouts are coming along pretty good and it is just a matter of the guys getting used to wearing the pads. We see a lot of bright spots in both the offensive and defensive lines. I also see bright spots in our quarterback positions and also in our special team positions."
On Thursday, the team worked out in shorts during the morning practice while going into a short scrimmage in full gear during the afternoon practice. In addition, the players will also have the night off in order to give them a break.
"The pads also have their toll on the guys when they first put them on because they are carrying more weight," Thomas added. "We have been running the guys pretty hard over the past couple of days, so we decided to ease up on them today."
