Coppin State Dismisses Two Men's Basketball PlayersMarch 25, 2002BALTIMORE - Coppin State head men's basketball coach Ron "Fang" Mitchell has announced that Robert Smith (Columbus, Ohio/Northland H.S.) and Drew Cagle (Norwich, Conn./Norwich Free Academy) have been dismissed from the team. Smith, a 5-foot-10 freshman guard, averaged 5.9 points, 2.1 rebounds and 2.4 assists in 25 games. He took over starting point guard duties early in the season after an injury forced senior Rasheem Sims to the sidelines for 18 games. Cagle, a 6-5 junior forward who had transferred from Mitchell College, saw action in 24 contests, including eight as a starter. He averaged 3.5 points and 2.2 rebounds. Coppin finished the 2001-02 season with a 6-25 mark, 3-15 in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference.
