Deidre Bell Jones Follows Sam Jefferson at JSUJune 30, 2002Jackson State University has promoted former assistant Deidre Bell Jones to athletic media relations director, replacing longtime sports information director Sam Jefferson, who retires Sunday. A native of Fort Worth, Texas, and a 1997 graduate of Jackson State, Bell Jones joined Jefferson's staff in 1998. She served as the department's marketing and promotions director. "No one can replace Sam Jefferson," Bell Jones said. "But he would want me to set my own precedent, and that is what I plan to do."
