Clark Atlanta Men's Basketball Team to Forfeit Seven Games

The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Office reports that the Clark Atlanta University men's basketball team will forfeit seven (7) games. During a recent fact finding by the Conference Office, it was discovered that Clark Atlanta University competed with two (2) ineligible student-athletes.

The games forfeited will be a combination of six (6) conference games and one (1) non-conference game. The ineligible student-athletes competed in a total of ten (10) games but three (3) of those games were losses. In addition to the forfeiture of games, additional penalties, sanctions and reprimands were levied against Clark Atlanta University. Under the leadership and direction of the Director of Athletics, Brenda Edmond, Clark Atlanta University acted swiftly, fully cooperated and had the proper compliance components in place to assist the Conference Office with the fact-finding.

In accordance with the SIAC Bylaws and Regulations, won-loss records and conference standings will be adjusted accordingly. Clark Atlanta University will be permitted to compete in the 69th Annual SIAC Basketball Tournament in Birmingham at Fair Park Arena beginning Wednesday, February 27 through March 2, 2002.
