Second Annual HBCU Women's Basketball Classic set for Bayou Classic Weekend

SBA Sports Marketing and Events Management has assembled 12 high caliber college women's basketball teams for the second year the HBCU Women's Basketball Classic. The classic will provide a platform for these students to showcase their basketball talents in front of a national audience.

The event will run from November 21-23, 2001 in New Orleans, La. at the Municipal Arena, which is the same week as the State Farm Bayou Classic between Grambling State University and Southern University.

The classic will begin Wednesday Nov. 21 at 4 p.m. with a coaches clinic. Following the clinic, a reception for coaches and players will be held at 7 p.m. The clinic and reception will be located at the Holiday Inn Select in Kenner, La.The first batch of games will tip off Thursday afternoon and the remaining contests will be played Friday beginning at 11 a.m.

Taking the court in the classic are: Alabama A&M University, Dillard University, Florida A&M University, Grambling State University, Hampton University, Langston University, North Carolina Central University, Southern University (Baton Rouge), Southern University at New Orleans, Tuskegee University, Virginia State University and Xavier University.
