Delaware State 38, Morgan State 12Dover, DE --- Fullback Maurice Foster came off the bench to rush for 110 yards and a touchdown, and starting fullback Vincent Sewell rushed for 57 yards and two scores, to lead Delaware State to a 38-12 Hoemcoming win over Morgan State in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) football Saturday.The Hornets snapped a three-game losing streak to improve to 2-4 overall and 1-3 in the MEAC, while Morgan State had its two-game winning streak snapped to fall to 2-5 and 1-4. Delaware Statte opened the scoring on a 11-yard run by Sewell with 6:31 left in the first quarter. The Hornets stretched their lead to 14-0 when cornerback Stephen Brown picked up a Morgan State fumbled, and returned it 75 yards for a score. Foster gave the Hornets a 21-0 lead on a five-yard run with 11:25 left in the third quarter. The seven-play, 84-yard drive included a 47-yard run by Foster, the team's leading rusher with 503 yards this season. He missed the Hornets' previous game due to a foot injury. Delaware State stretched its lead to 28-0 on a 28-yard pass from Kittrell Barnes to James Edmonds wit 6:29 left in the third quarter. The Hornets rushed for a season-high 312 yards during the contest. |
